Welcome to brassica2010.ca!

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite members of the international scientific community to Saskatoon Canada for the 17th Crucifer Genetics Workshop, being held September 5-8, 2010.  The organising committee are working to provide an exciting list of invited speakers, which will be combined with short invited talks, poster presentations and stimulating entertainment.  The program will reflect the diversity offered by this plant family, which encompasses almost 3500 different species, from which both vegetative and reproductive tissues are utilized for food and more recently fuel and bioproduct production. Sessions will explore the scope of international research in the areas of:

  1. genetic diversity
  2. seed quality traits
  3. breeding and trait genetics
  4. comparative and functional genomics
  5. environmental stress
  6. alternative products
  7. impact of transgenic technologies

It is anticipated that the genome sequence of Brassica rapa will be released in 2010, so in light of this exciting event, the workshop will also include a special session on Brassica genome sequencing which will highlight the status of International efforts to sequence and analyse the genomes of Brassica and related species.

Look to this web site for program updates and information on registration and abstract submission.

We look forward to seeing you in Saskatoon!

Best wishes,

Isobel Parkin and Pierre Fobert
